2010 National "Green" Coloring Contest

CHARLESTON, SC; April 2010 — To celebrate 2010 Earth Day, Hagemeyer North America held a nationwide coloring contest for the immediate family members of our associates.

There were 24 submissions in the 7-12 age group and 15 submissions in the 2-6 age group. Selecting our winners was difficult, but guest judge Renee Patey of the Sustainable Institute of Charleston, SC, was up to the challenge.

"It was great fun for everyone," says Melanie Hardy, Hagemeyer North America's Manager of Sustainable Development. "We were so impressed by the talent and we're going to enjoy using our winners' artwork in future printed pieces for the company.

"Also, on each submission," explains Melanie, "we asked the children to explain what 'green' means to them. Their answers were adorable and, more often, very poignant. I think this generation is really grasping the importance of taking care of our environment."

The artwork of our two winners (pictured at right) will be featured in future printed "green" marketing materials and each artist was awarded a $25 gift card to Walmart.

Our two runners-up (identified in the artwork files below) were each awarded a $10 gift card to McDonalds.
